The Ultimate Guide to Making a Hair Bun Although it may seem like a daunting task, with the correct equipment and a little practice, the art of "bun-making" for dance classes will seem like a breeze. Follow the steps outlined below or contact us with any questions regarding a particularly difficult head of hair. Equipment needed for hair buns include: • Hair Brush with Close Black Bristles (Not Plastic Bristles) • Hard Hair Pins (Not Bobby Pins) • A Hair Net with an Elastic-Band Edge • Hair Gel—Spray Bottle Type • Small Spray Bottle of Water
Steps: 1) Brush out all tangles. 2) Use a combination of water and spray gel with hair brush to make a smooth ponytail. 3) Placement of ponytail should be in the middle of the back of the head. 4) Use more gel if necessary to smooth out any loose hair before starting bun. 5) Begin to twist hair in a clockwise direction. 6) As you twist, place hair onto head and pin flat onto head in a doughnut shape. 7) When putting in the pins, place them straight down toward head, catching the edges of the "doughnut". 8) It does not matter if the "doughnut" is not smooth, the hairnet will take care of this.
