Madame Kim St. Laurent trained in Edinburgh, Scotland, following the Royal Academy program. She won a scholarship with the Scottish Ballet Company at 13 years of age. She joined the company as a dancer at 15 while continuing her academic studies. Following the completion of her studies, she became a full-time member of the company. For several years she performed for both the Scottish Ballet Company and the Scottish Opera Company as a singer and dancer. Madame St. Laurent then joined and toured with a European Jazz company for several years.

Madame St. Laurent opened her own school of dance near London, catering to 3- to 18-year-old children. The St. Laurent College of Dance Studies trained dancers and teachers as part of a 3-year dance degree college course.

Local Connection: Although Madame was raised in Scotland and pursued her dancing career there and in London, she has strong ties to Hawaii, going all the way back to Captain Cook. Her mother was born on Maui and married a Scotsman. Madame visited her Hawaii grandparents often and met and married an American businessman here, reversing her mother’s migration. She makes her home in Hawaii, where she opened The St. Laurent School of Dance in 1990.
